Another pleasant, dry day is shaping up around the state, with temperatures expected to climb into the mid-80s by afternoon. Massachusetts will see plenty of sunshine, with a few patches of clouds, according to the National Weather Service.
High pressure over New England will keep humidity low. A cool sea breeze will develop along the coast this afternoon, gusting to around 8 miles per hour, according to the Weather Service.
Wednesday will begin sunny with temperatures reaching a high of near 83 degrees. Showers will develop in the late afternoon, starting in the Berkshires and spreading east late at night.
“Wednesday is kind of tricky,†said Stephanie Dunten, Weather Service meteorologist. “There may be a passing shower, but most of the day will be pretty nice.â€
Precipitation won’t relent Thursday. The morning showers will be tame, with thunder and lightning unlikely, according to the Weather Service. But as the day progresses, heavy rain will be possible, as will thunderstorms. Temperatures will climb into the low 80s, coupled with rising dew points that will bring some stickiness to the state until the weekend.
“Between Wednesday night and into Friday it looks like we could get around 2 inches of rain,†Dunten said.
No relief from rain is likely Friday. Precipitation is likely for most of the day. Humidity levels won’t drop, and temperatures are unlikely to crest above 80 degrees.
A few leftover showers are likely early Saturday, but they will give way to clear, dry weather that should last into Monday. Dew points will drop Saturday, as a high pressure system moves into the state. Temperatures will remain seasonable Saturday and Sunday, around 80 degrees, according to the Weather Service.
