A five-alarm fire that ripped through two wood-frame homes this morning in Allston has been knocked down with no apparent injuries, according to Boston Fire Department spokesman Steve MacDonald.
Firefighters responded first to reports of a fire at a three-story building at17 Mansfield St. at 7:12 a.m., MacDonald said.
When the blaze spread to a two-story building next door, it was declared a five-alarm fire.
No injuries have been reported at this time and the scene is still active, MacDonald said.
Building inspectors are on scene to assess the damage, he said.
