Richard Trethewey is the plumbing and heating expert on the home improvement show "This Old House." He also appears on the show's sister series "Ask This Old House."
A Dedham native, Trethewey grew up with the plumbing and heating business. His family's business, Trethewey Bros. Inc., has served the Boston-area since 1902. In 1978, Trethewey's father Ron was approached by "This Old House" creator Russell Morash about joining the show. Ron Trethewey was featured on the show for one season, before he asked his son to take his place. Trethewey joined the "This Old House" team in 1980.
In addition to his work on "This Old House," Trethewey is the president of RST Inc., a manufacturer's representative company, and is on the editorial board of This Old House Magazine. He has authored or contributed to several home improvement books.
