A cold front will move across New England this morning, bringing one more round of showers before a prolonged period of dry, pleasant conditions. Temperatures will drop into the low 70s and skies will be mostly cloudy, according to the National Weather Service.
âœThe morning will see the greatest chance of precipitation,â said Alan Dunham, Weather Service meteorologist. âœThere is a chance of a brief shower or two in the afternoon, but we could see some off and on sunshine.â
Showers will end by about 10 a.m. as the cold front slowly moves offshore. Dew points will finally start to fall, and should drop into the 50s by sunset. Tropical Storm Gabrielle could slow down the cold front a bit, but will make no real impact on Massachusetts today, according to the Weather Service.
A northwest wind will develop today, bringing gusts up to 20 miles per hour.
Skies will clear this evening, and temperatures will fall into the low 50s.
Dry, cool air will enter the region Saturday, and showers are unlikely. Skies will be mostly sunny, with a high near 73 degrees. A few clouds will develop overnight, though rain is unlikely. Temperatures overnight will plunge into the 50s, and humidity levels will remain comfortable through the weekend.
Temperatures will rebound on Sunday, cresting around 73 degrees. Sunshine is likely through the day.
âœFor anybody who wants to go apple picking or get some outside work done, itâ™s going to be a great weekend for it,â Dunham said.
Dry conditions will persist through much of the week, with mostly sunny skies predicted through Thursday. Humidity levels wonâ™t rise to oppressive levels, and temperatures will hover in the upper 60s to low 70s. Nighttime temperatures in the Berkshires could drop into the low 30s into the week, bringing chilly conditions â” and perhaps some frost â” to the Commonwealth.
