Teenagers suffer life-threatening injuries in Arborway crash

A multi-vehicle crash on the Arborway in Jamaica Plain has left multiple teenagers with life-threatening injuries, State Police said.

One car rolled over in the crash at about 2 p.m. The car is believed to have been carrying high school- and middle school-aged passengers who suffered critical injuries. They were transported to Boston Medical Center, Boston Children̢۪s Hospital, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, said David Procopio, State Police spokesman.

No further details were immediately available on the accident.

The Arborway has been shut down between the Shea Rotary and Center Street, Procopio said.

The Casey overpass is closed in both directions, and police are asking people to avoid the Forest Hills area. The Arborway is expected to be closed throughout the evening commute. Drivers should also expect very heavy traffic on Washington Street, Hyde Park Avenue, South Street, and Center Street, the mayor̢۪s office said.
