A 20-year-old man was stabbed multiple times Sunday night in John F. Kennedy Park in Cambridge, according to State Police.
At about 8:55 p.m., State Police received a report of a man stabbed multiple times in the park, located on Memorial Drive and a short walk from Harvard Square. Troopers from the Boston and Brighton Barracks found the man, conscious and alert, being treated by EMS officials with multiple stab wounds.
Witnesses told police a male suspect -- later identified as Nicolas Baker of Guilford, Vermont -- approached the victim and muttered some comments to him before stabbing the victim multiple times with a knife.
The victim was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston with non-life-threatening wounds, State Police said.
Baker, 25, was seen walking towards the Western Avenue bridge after the stabbing, and was taken into custody on the bridge,police said.
He has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and malicious destruction of property, police said.
He is scheduled to be arraigned today in Cambridge District Court.
