A woman was attacked in a car, then pushed out of the vehicle in an alleged sexual assault on a quiet Bedford road early Sunday morning, police said.
Bedford police Sargeant Paul Saunders said the woman was left on the side of Dudley Road, a sleepy residential street, just after 4 a.m. Sunday. Emergency responders issued first aid to the woman at the scene before taking her to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officials found the car crashed about half a mile from the scene of the alleged attack on Dudley Road, just over the Billerica line. How the car crashed remained under investigation Sunday, Saunders said.
Billerica police and a Burlington police dog assisted in the investigation. As officers searched for the suspects, two men returned to the car about 7 a.m., Saunders said.
The men were taken into custody for questioning, but Saunders said no charges were filed Sunday night. Police impounded the car and were seeking a search warrant Sunday, Saunders said.
