Patriots' Week 1 practice update: Gronk on the field

FOXBOROUGH - The Patriots are on the field for their first practice of the regular season, and the big news is that Rob Gronkowski is in uniform and participating for the first time since January.

Media were present for dynamic warmups exercises and some positional drills; in a blocking drill with the other tight ends, Gronkowski did seem to be going at half-speed compared to his teammates, but he appeared to be moving well.

There were three players not spotted: OL Will Svitek, CB Marquice Cole and RB Leon Washington.

Players were in full pads.

New England does not have to submit a practice report until Wednesday, but it's safe to say Gronkowski's participation will be limited as he works to get back into game shape after months of rehab for his arm and back surgeries.
