Cloudy, humid today; temps to reach 90s on Wednesday

WBZ Accuweather Forecast September 10

Summer’s back — with a vengeance.

Temperatures are expected to rise into the mid-90s Wednesday in much of Eastern Massachusetts. Add in some stifling humidity and it will feel like it’s 104 degrees, the National Weather Service said.

The weather service issued a heat advisory, effective from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

It will be so hot some people could fall ill, the forecasters said. The service suggested, among other things, that people avoid prolonged work in the sun or in poorly ventilated areas, stay hydrated, stay out of the sun, and check in on relatives and neighbors.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Wednesday night, and overnight lows will only dip back to around 70, forecasters said.

Thursday and Thursday night, the chance for showers and thunderstorms will increase. The highs will still reach into the mid-80s.

A cold front will enter the region by Friday, resulting in temperatures and dew points dropping. Highs on Friday will be in the 70s. A mixture of clouds and sun is likely through the day, and temperatures will fall into the high 40s and low 50s overnight, according to the weather service.

The weekend will see a good deal of sunshine, and temperatures will hover in the 60s and 70s. Rain is unlikely over the weekend.
