“Music is my life, it’s my true passion,” said Sam Dziobek, 23, of Harwich. Dziobek planned to sing “No Diggity” by Blackstreet during the acapella portion of the audtion and “I Got a Woman” by Ray Charles should he get the chance to use his guitar.

Harry Wood, 18, of Andover was given a camera by the show’s producers in order to film the audition experience from the contestant’s perspective. “They just handed it to me,” said Wood. “Go record your ‘Idol’ journey.” The young singer said that he planned on performing the song “Gold” by Glen Hansard from the musical “Once.” Asked why he made that choice,Wood explained that he’s a fan of the musical and that the song “fits” his style.

“I grew up watching ‘American Idol’ since season two,” said first-time auditioner Justin Cohn, 20, of Milford, N.H. Cohn, who said he grew up in a musically inclined family, planned to show off his vocal range to the judges with the song “Drops of Jupiter” by Train.

The Colorado native admitted he “got a little nervous” the first time he tried out for “American Idol” but felt confident this time around. The dance instructor turned singer planned on performing his version of “Walking in Memphis” by Marc Cohn.

A mob of “American Idol” hopefuls attempted to avoid the rain as they posed for a picture. The improptu group later belted out a rendition of “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond as they waited to enter Gillette Stadium.

“I’ve auditioned for ‘The Voice’ before,” said Sarah Tello, 18, of Milford, N.H. The first time “Idol” auditioner planned to sing “I Feel Lucky” by Mary Chapin Carpenter. “I’ll always be a southerner at heart,” said Tello, who originally hails from Texas.
