A Newton teacher is facing child pornography charges, according to the Middlesex district attorney’s office.
The teacher, Steven Chan, was arrested Thursday on two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of dissemination of child pornography.
Chan, 57, will be arraigned today in Newton District Court.
Chan is an F.A. Day Middle School math teacher, according to the Newton school department website.
He was also listed as boys’ gymnastics coach at Newton North.
Newton and State Police didn’t immediately return messages seeking comment.
No further details were immediately available.
The arrest comes after David Ettlinger, a former teacher at Underwood Elementary School in Newton, was arrested in early 2012 and sentenced to 45 years in jail for his role in an online child pornography ring.
