Traffic Friday could be tangled in the area of the Franklin Park Zoo because of the zooâ™s Free Fun Friday event, officials said.
The Boston Transportation Department is advising motorists that Blue Hill Avenue, Columbia Road, American Legion Highway, and Seaver Street in the zoo area may all see heavy traffic, said a statement from the mayorâ™s office.
Free Fun Friday has a history of drawing large crowds, the office said. Last year there was a significant delay in traffic, said Emilee Ellison, a mayorâ™s office spokeswoman.
Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes to avoid congestion, the office said.
The Highland Street Foundation sponsors Free Fun Fridays. Under the program, 60 museums and cultural venues are open for free on Fridays for all summer, six venues per week.
