With the training camp just days away and the start of the 2013-14 National Hockey League season just over a month away, we take a look at the five must see games on the schedule for the Boston Bruins. With a full season on tap the Bruins will get to see each team in the league at least twice which sets up some entertaining matchups throughout the league. Let’s find out which five games you absolutely cannot miss.
Bruins @ Canadiens December 5, 2013
It is always fun when these two meet for the first time. It is a high energy, fast-paced and physical game. Add in the crazy atmosphere of the Bell Centre and you got yourself one entertaining hockey game.
Last season these two long time rivals fought back and forth for the Northeast division crown, a title that ultimately would go to the Canadiens, but clearly the B’s were built a lot better to go further in the playoffs. This rivalry is one of the best in sports and it would be a shame to miss this game. The B’s did lose the season series to the Habs last year so don’t think they won’t remember that when the teams see each other in December.
Maple Leafs @ Bruins November 9, 2013
This is the first time the two teams will meet since the Bruins completed a miraculous Game 7 comeback in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. We will always remember Patrice Bergeron’s tying and winning goals in Game 7 vs. the Maple Leafs a few months ago. This game marks the first time the Leafs will see TD Garden ice since their epic collapse.
Phil Kessel did show that he is a prime time player in the playoffs, but it was not enough to knock off Zedeno Chara and the Bruins. It will be very interesting to see how the Maple Leafs bounce back this season after such a demoralizing loss. Toronto added some key pieces as they look to return to the playoffs in 2013-14. There is no doubt the Leafs will ready anytime they see the Bruins across the ice.
Bruins @ Canucks December 14, 2013
Every time these two teams take the ice it brings back memories from 2011 when the Bruins hoisted the Stanley Cup in Vancouver after an epic seven game series. It is always fun to watch these two teams battle it out with two different styles. The B’s play with physicality while the Canucks play with finesse and we all saw the Canucks turtle in the Stanley Cup a few years ago.
The Canucks may still have a bitter taste in their mouth, but the Bruins seem to hang tough with the best of the west. We will see if the Canucks can hang with the beasts of the east. The Bruins will look to send a message to John Tortorella’s newest squad in what will surely be a fun game. Vancouver will be rocking as the Bruins and Canucks take center stage on Hockey Night in Canada.

This game marks the first time Tyler Seguin and Rich Peverley will be back in Boston since being dealt in a blockbuster July 4th trade. Seguin finished his career in Boston with 56 goals and 65 assists in 203 games played, but it was his performance in the playoffs that worried the Black and Gold. Peverley appeared in 127 games with the Bruins where he scored 21 times and added 46 assists. His $3.25 Million cap hit made it easy for the Bruins to move the veteran forward
The 21-year old Seguin will most likely be moved to center for the Stars and play in a more fast-paced system. It will be interesting to see the how the fans treat Seguin as he steps on the TD Garden ice for the first time since his most recent disappointing Stanley Cup Playoff performance in a Bruins sweater. It will also be great to watch Loui Eriksson get a crack at his old team under Tyler Seguin’s watch.
Bruins @ Blackhawks January 19, 2014
The Bruins will meet the Blackhawks for the first time since their defeat in the Stanley Cup Finals. We all know the Bruins will have a sour taste in their mouth after letting in two goals in 17 seconds to lose in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
The B’s will not think about the past though as they look to get back to the Stanley Cup Final. It will be interesting to see how Chara and Seidenberg match up against Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, after the two struggled to contain Chicago’s dynamic duo during the Final. You want to be in front of your television set on this night for the rematch of the 2013 Stanley Cup Final because it will be one of the best games on the schedule in 2013-14.
