Rockland woman charged with two bank robbery attempts in Cambridge

A Rockland woman is facing charges after attempting to rob two Cambridge banks on Tuesday, fleeing both without taking any money, police said.

Jessica Whalen, 35, is slated to be arraigned in district court today, a spokeswoman for the Middlesex district attorneyĆ¢€™s office said.

Whalen was arrested Tuesday. She faces two counts of attempt to commit a crime after attempting to rob banks on Massachusetts Avenue and Alewife Brook Parkway, Cambridge police said in a statement.

At around 1:30 p.m., a female entered a bank on Massachusetts Avenue, passed a note to the teller, and fled without any money or showing a weapon, police said.

Then, around 3 p.m., police responded to a report of an attempted bank robbery on Alewife Brook Parkway. A female matching the description of the Massachusetts Avenue suspect entered the bank, passed a note to the teller, and fled without any money or showing a weapon, police said.

Police found Whalen in the area of the second crime and arrested her, police said.
