Framingham fire officials on Friday found a 66-year-old woman living at the Red Roof Inn in “unsanitary†conditions with eight to 10 dogs, according to Framingham Deputy Fire Chief Anthony Pillarella.
The responding fire officials’ report described the hotel room as “extremely unsanitary,†but did not include details about the dogs’ effect on the hotel room, according to Pillarella. He added that an officer on scene said that all of the animals were small-breed dogs.
Framingham police, animal control, and city and state health officials were called to the scene as well, according to Pillarella, who said he was not aware of any charges pending against the resident.
Fire officials responded to the scene just after 9 a.m. Friday, shortly after the woman placed a call seeking medical attention, Pillarella said, adding that he believed the woman had been residing in the hotel room for three years.
Lindsey Norris, a Red Roof Inn corporate spokesperson, said she was unable to comment on the incident other than to confirm that a guest in the hotel did require medical assistance Friday, and local authorities, including police, animal services, and the health department are investigating the incident.
“We will not comment on a pending investigation,†she said.
