A person was shot tonight on East 8th Street in South Boston, police said.
Boston police confirmed that the shooting occurred at about 9:10 p.m., but the spokesman had no additional details.
About two dozen onlookers were standing near the scene outside the Old Colony housing development while State Police, Boston police, and Housing Authority police investigated.
A stretch of East 8th near the development was sealed off with police tape and an ambulance was also visible.
Albert Suarez, 47, said he was visiting his son at the time of the shooting and saw police flood the area soon after.
He said he was standing outside when âœnext thing you know all the lightsâ from the police vehicles were flashing.
Like Suarez, his wife, Robin, said she did not hear any gunshots or witness the shooting.
âœI know one thing, this is crazy,â Robin Suarez said. âœThey need to stop all this violence.â
State Police confirmed that a trooper was involved in a shooting nearby on Gates Street, but it was not immediately clear if that was the same incident.
In addition to the various police agencies, a representative from the Suffolk district attorneyâ™s office was also at the scene.
