In case you missed, NASA sent some people into space this week. As always, strapping a bunch of humans inside a giant rocket and firing it out of the atmosphere is a cool thing.
But the headline of this week's mission (that in a feat of ingenuity, a small group of humans went into space to gather data and further our understanding of what lies beyond this planet) was sadly ignored when a frog decided to steal the show.
Yes, that's right. A frog seems to have bested the miracle of human space exploration.
Of course, this is no ordinary frog. This particular amphibian happened to be a thrill seeker of the highest order. In what must be an attempt to gain fame and notoriety, the frog perched itself close enough to the rocket that, when time came around for the shuttle to launch, the small creature was caught up in the shock wave and sent for the ride of its life.
This spectacular photobomb stole the show. The image was captured by one of NASA's remote cameras used to capture the launch.
"The photo team confirms the frog is real and was captured in a single frame by one of the remote cameras used to photograph the launch. The condition of the frog, however, is uncertain.," NASA wrote on its website.
That last bit sure is ominous. While the fate of this fear-defying frog is unfortunately unknown, it seems to have made more headlines than the launch itself. So even though it's hard not to assume the worst, at least there's that.
