A record low was recorded at Boston Logan International Airport this morning, as temperatures dipped to 44 degrees, one degree colder than the previous record. Though calendars claim fall doesn’t arrive until Sept. 22, it sure feels like it’s already here.
High pressure will bring dry weather for the rest of the week, and temperatures will hover in the mid-60s and into the 70s. Skies will remain sunny through at least Saturday, before an approaching cold front will bring some showers late Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
“It’s going to be bright and sunny today, with another chilly night in Boston,†said Alan Dunham, Weather Service meteorologist. “We could set another record low overnight in Boston.â€
Chilly morning temperatures through much of Massachusetts – including Northwest Massachusetts where temps dropped into the lower 30s — will rise this morning bringing the high for the day to 61 degrees. Abundant sunshine is likely through the day before temperatures again drop near freezing. A frost advisory has been issued for Northwest Massachusetts and Southwest New Hampshire, according to the Weather Service.
Wednesday will be another nice, fall-like day, with clear skies and temperatures reaching the low 70s. Temperatures overnight will drop into the low 50s around Boston.
“We will have bright sunshine and pleasant temperatures Wednesday,†Dunham said. “This weather will repeat itself for most of the week.â€
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will mimic each other, with continuing sunshine and a high temperature of around 77. No rain is expected until Saturday night, as clouds increase and a cold front enters the region. Showers will begin Saturday night and persist into Sunday.
Sunday will see scattered showers through the day, and a high near 74, according to the Weather Service.
“Sunday won’t be a washout,†Dunham said. “Some places might only get a little rain through the day.â€
