WASHINGTON _ Thomas E. Donilon, President Obamaâ™s recently departed national security adviser, will be returning to New England to take a part-time position at the Harvard Kennedy Schoolâ™s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, the center announced Friday.
âœTom has been at the center of every major national security decision in the Obama administration from the surge and then drawdown in Afghanistan to the rebalance toward Asia and elimination of Osama bin Laden,â Graham Allison, the Belfer Centerâ™s director, said in a statement. âœFor Harvard faculty, fellows, and students, he will be a great colleague and instructor.â
Donilon, a native of Providence, R.I., also has Boston connections. His brother, Terrence, is the communications director for Bostonâ™s Roman Catholic Cardinal Sean Oâ™Malley. Meanwhile, his brother Mike is a senior adviser to Vice President Joe Biden, while his wife, Catherine M. Russell, is the former chief of staff for Dr. Jill Biden.
