Mass. teen hurt in Boston bombing named prom queen

LOWELL, Mass. (AP) — A teenager injured in the Boston Marathon bombing has been crowned prom queen at Lowell High School.

Sydney Corcoran was crowned Tuesday night. She suffered shrapnel and other wounds in the April 15 attacks. Her mother, Celeste, lost both her legs below the knee.

WBZ-TV reports (cbsloc.al/172R3ez) that although Corcoran was unable to dance at the prom, she was happy to be with her friends again.

Her mother says her daughter ‘‘deserves to have fun tonight.’’

Corcoran graduates next week.
