Jacoby Ellsbury scored the game-winning run when Yankees catcher Austin Romine couldn't handle the throw from right field after Shane Victorino lined one to Ichiro Suziki. The Red Sox won the first game of their four-game series in New York, 9-8.

Curtis Granderson scored on a single by Lyle Overbay to cap a six-run seventh inning for the Yankees, who rallied from a 7-2 deficit to take an 8-7 lead.
